Single Bite: Tea Time in London

Tea at the Tate, Tate Britain, London

While taking a break from the Turners, Gainsboroughs and Whistlers, I ordered a simple cup of tea at the Tate's museum cafe. Imagine what they would have brought out if I had ordered the high tea. A man in an Elizabethan collar to butter my crumpet? Either way, next time I'll be sure to wear my tiara. FYI, America: I could get used to being served my own pot of loose leaf tea with a stainless steel strainer and drip bowl. What's wrong with you?

  1. Too cute! I hope to have high tea in London some day; bring on the crumpets :)

  2. Shades of Downton Abbey and Upstairs, Downstairs! Those fussy traditions came from having such a vast servant class for so long, maybe? Remember, America is the upstart colony!

  3. Hope you're having a wonderful time! The tea service looks great...I can't think of a better way to take a break and relax than with a cup of tea!

  4. Tiaras and Bon Appetit. Now, don't be getting all hoity-toity on me. Congrats on the feature - you are all that!

  5. My English cousin has been luring me to London with promises of a high tea at one of the fancy hotels! Now if I can just extricate myself from Texas! can't think of a better time and pleasure than real tea served in a real teapot (and a tea cozy) with some real scones and cake!
